Phillw, you can disable ibus with the lxpolicykit? Can someone please confirm that lubuntu-software-center AND ubuntu- software-center work fine in Xubuntu and Kubuntu? If so, then it's clearly an LXDE setup issue. For that matter, you could probably just install xubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop, I imagine.
