The server had been very stable for many years. I do not remember if the crashes started happening after a particular update, but it only started to happen recently, about a month before I upgraded to 14.04.2 LTS from 12.04 (I upgraded to 14.04.2 LTS because I thought it would stop the occasional crashes, but the server crashes much more frequently after the upgrade). I have a spare HD. If you could let me know how to install old kernels, I can install them on the spare HD and test. I can start testing by installing 12.04.1 LTS, but I don't know how to upgrade to old kernels from there.
Also, since it's an old computer, do you think the crashes could be a result of hardware failure? I tested both RAM and HD and they are both fine. But I am wondering if other hardware failures could also cause kernal panic. If so, are there ways to test? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432778 Title: kernel panic, 14.04.2 LTS server crashes at random intervel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1432778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
