Public bug reported: twice today X crashed and restarted gdm.
In the /var/log/syslog file i get: gdm[3192]: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0 Some discussion on similar same problem is here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=96068 I am running 7.04 amd64. To me it seems like either an out of memory thing, firefox might be a possible cause, but it is still hard to say. There are a bunch of somewhat similar, but I think different bugs. For example: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/138708 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/136784 The difference is that these other one deal with 3D stuff and commonly the problem is with nvidia or the nv driver.
