Public bug reported:

With Gnome desktop the mouse pointer never changes, but is always fixed
to the same black arrow. Mouse still works, but re-sizing windows is
pretty hard.

This happens on Gnome desktop, tested both with gdm and LightDM. No
problems on Unity desktop,  neither with LightDM nor gdm.

Vivid Vervet on Lenovo t440.
