Corresponding Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=685439

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=685439#31 implies that
my apt sources.lists could be relevant: it's precise (main, restricted,
universe, multiverse) plus precise-updates and precise-security (same
components).

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=685439#51 suggests a
workaround: apt-show-versions -i. I've tested it, and it works for me.

I see now that /etc/cron.daily/apt-show-versions is supposed to run apt-
show-versions -i, and that I ssh'ed into the server before the daily
cron scripts had a chance to run, after an OS upgrade that changed the
sources.list.
