Public bug reported:

Today I got all updates installed, which totally turned off my
soundcard.

When I press laptop keys for changing volume, The volume bar shows muted
and won't change.

When I click on volume control applet it says "No GStreamer or volume control
devices found" (translating from Polish, so it may be different in english
version of Ubuntu)
When I invoke alsamixer, it says: alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for
default: No such device.
When I invoke alsa-cntl restore, it says: load_state:1329: No soundcards
found...
When I invoke alsa-cntl names, it says:
alsactl: for_each_card:51: No soundcards found...
alsactl: generate_names:525: probe 0 failed: No such device
alsactl: for_each_card:51: No soundcards found...
alsactl: generate_names:525: probe 1 failed: No such device
alsactl: for_each_card:51: No soundcards found...
alsactl: generate_names:525: probe 2 failed: No such device

I;m running latest rt kernel
