Hi Rolf, i don't think you got the main issue right here. Why "won't fix" is a VERY BAD idea here) is that *THE UPSTREAM PEOPLE* say, their package will be useless and will automatically break if it's not updated regularly and fast (that's every one or two weeks or so).
There are only two options fpr Ubuntu here imho: 1) update more often and if you can't or won't because it's only security fixes - which is fully legit - then 2) remove youtube-dl compeltely from all ubuntu (lts and non-lts) releases because it is *ASSURED* by the nature of this particular piece of software that the package will be broken one or two weeks after the ubuntu release is made. But please, don't say "won't fix" and knowingly ship broken software. If you won't fix, then don't ship the software at all here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424177 Title: youtube-dl version always too old, please pull in more often To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/youtube-dl/+bug/1424177/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
