Your guess is almost certainly right. You are using an NVIDIA card (the only
question could be whether it's a card newer than a GeForce 2 but I think it's
safe to assume that your card is a GeForce 2MX or newer if you can use
compiz-fusion and you are seeing this problem), you only get the crashes when
desktop effects are on, you are using Gutsy and the crashes restart X. Given
all of information I will mark this bug a duplicate.

duplicate of bug #130325, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can add, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Feel free to
