OK. So I am still getting seemingly random crashes. Again I am not running desktop effects. I think that may be a different and should be reported/added to accordingly.
Usually the crash happens when running firefox. Also, it is not reproducible reliably. For example twice in a row when clicking on this link: http://krazydad.com/blog/ from this link: http://battellemedia.com/archives/003952.php in the comments section, i got the crash. But the third time i clicked on the link (yeah, you would think i would have learned) it didn't crash. So it is not completely reproducible. So, I didn't know what the problem was so i decided to run a memory test (memtest). Which passed many many times with no errors. This also required a reboot, and just after booting it fresh today I got another crash. This time the crash happened when closing a tab in firefox. I was trying to think about what I might have installed or any changes to the system. I remembered install the gnash mozilla plugin, so i just uninstalled that.
