1. Is this the built-in keyboard and glidepad, or external devices? 2. Do a good start and in the GRUB menu add "acpi=off" to the kernel command-line. If the PC starts with that (some systems won't start without ACPI these days) do a shutdown and power-on again. If the keyboard/mouse are working then we can confirm the issue is related to ACPI in the kernel.
