I just did security update Linux Image 3.16.0.34-generic. It seems as if
every time that I do the next security update there is a problem as is
evident by this bug report: "nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to
build." I use this fix

(This seems to fix it (at least for one version upgrade) for many people

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-331

after that...

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-331-uvm

(some users may be on the versions of these packages suffixed with
-updates )

and the update completes and I restart.

I'm not an advanced Ubuntu tech but something must be wrong with the
nvidia driver or the kernel that does not allow for security updates to
complete.

What is causing this problem?

I'm about to have an old friend put Ubuntu15.04 on his computer and I
hope that this bug is fixed before that update. By convincing him that
WIN is more problem for him, I suggested Ubuntu.
