I'm the original poster, up to date on Feisty on the same HW as originally noted. After continuously updating, I have noticed that this bug is MUCH reduced now (using Kmail Version 1.9.6) - the laptop has been up for 5 days (and suspended/woken multiple times a day with s2ram) under heavy kmail use and until today, it has not happened. It is MUCH better! But today...it happened again in spades. Just before I reboot, I'll note this:
There were 2 things that happened simultaneously - Kmail started doing the same thing as noted above and konqueror started misbehaving. I've had 3 Konqy windows open for most of this time, each with 5-10 tabs open, back-&-forthing a lot. Suddenly, Konqy started to be very slow in accepting text in text widgets (address bar, form inputs), very slow to switch to other tabs, and even when taking text, would stutter quite a bit, sometimes for several seconds. Hmm - I'm typing this in nedit as konqy has just become completely unresponsive. I'll have to submit it via opera. I noticed that there were 15 instances of kio-http running. Killing them off seemed to help a bit, but overall it wasn't much better. Other KDE apps remain responsive (kate, kwlan, kwifimanager, krdc, etc and most gnome apps are fine (abiword). It's strange, but Firefox has the same behavior as Konqy - very slow, excruciatingly slow, but Opera does not - it remains very zippy. I have no explanation for this, just noting it. -- kmail locks when pasting text into composer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
