Yesterday, something very strange happened. After my first update in the
early morning (trying to fix a broken openoffice.org) there were some
new versions of dbus, hotkey-setup, and gnome-power-manager installed.
Rather coincidentily I switched off the power supply to my Sony Vaio ...
and the display dimmed!! I was rather surprised, and after checking the
gnome-power-manager I was really able to dim the display with the slide
bar again. Hooray!!! But now comes the odd part: after my second update
in the evening I was no more able to dim the display by hand in the
gnome-power-manager nor does it dim when the power supply is cut off!
The mystery continues ...
