Let me second that: I also already experienced different flavours of
'freezes' with plasma5 from kubuntu 15.04:
1. The first was related to a plasmashell sitting on a lockfile

removing that file, made the freeze disappear. kwin_x11 --replace did
not help.
2. On an intel atom based netbook I sometimes see freezes that don't
show the locking issue and can be workarounded by kwin_11 --replace
