For some reason your grub menu boot option is limiting the memory to
only 3GB.  You can see that in the beginning of your dmesg log file:

[    0.000000] Command line: root=UUID=fbd57a9a-
0bc0-4ed1-8b67-62fc89536a22 ro mem=3G acpi=off irqpoll

You could try modifying your boot options dynamically the next time you
boot and see if you have all 4 GB of memory after removing the "mem=3G"
portion of the line.  For more detailed information regarding how to

How did you go about installing Gutsy?  It may have been the
installation process that added those options to grub.
