OK, this is not a tkorrent bug. Ktorrent sets icon as actvie while
download and as passive otherwise:
ktorrent/trayicon.cpp:152
status_notifier_item->setStatus(core->getQueueManager()->getNumRunning(QueueManager::DOWNLOADS)
> 0 ?
KStatusNotifierItem::Active :
KStatusNotifierItem::Passive);
So, the issue is, how Unity handle passive icons. It just doesn't show
them.
