I've tried the fix on my bq device and it appears to be in a reboot loop (like the one the fix was supposed to resolve).
As such, I'd recommend testing the binaries only for the session init initially (/usr/bin/ubuntu-touch-session / /usr/share/lightdm/sessions /ubuntu-touch.desktop).
