Even though the original issue here is supposed to be fixed, I still see a similar problem when attempting to start glhack in Ubuntu 15.04. I was also able to reproduce this in Debian Sid, so I have filed a follow-up issue https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=783376
