I just printed a 100 page PDF without problems, using gutenprint 5.2.9 (using another computer with Debian 7 - had to add myself to lpadmin to be able to add the printer, after that no problems).
Before this I tested on my Ubuntu computer with gutenprint 5.2.8, the appout file is a pdf that does not have the problem.
