Public bug reported:

I simply tried running `do-release-upgrade` to upgrade to 15.04 and
after quite a while of answering dialogues, it finally seemed like I was
getting close to a finish, but alas ...

`Errors were encountered while processing:
 update-notifier-common
Error in function:

A fatal error occurred
`

More errors ensued. I am attaching the console output, as well as
/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log.

It seems the changed python links might have broken the install process,
as I can find both an import error and complaints about python symlinks
pointing to the wrong place.

The problem right now is that the system is bricked, and `dpkg
-configura` won't fix it.

sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for carl-erik:
