Public bug reported:

Version 7.04, installed just a couple days ago. Suddenly, whenever I try
to install or download a program, codec pack or update, I get an error
message that dpkg failed to run, and telling me to manually run "dpkg
--configure -a". I try to run that in the application run console
(alt-f2), and nothing happens--and I get the same error message the next
time.
