Public bug reported:

I have tried this on two dv6000z laptops. When I load feisty the
startup sound goes into a loop and locks everything up. I have tried
going into a tty and doing a full upgrade and dist-upgrade on the laptop
to see if this issue has been fixed and it has not. Edgy worked fine,
as soon as alsa is stopped as I shut down the repeat stops. This does
not lock up linux, but it does prevent X from going anywhere.

I found the following note about my sound card. Even if this is true, I
don't care if all the features are supported. I got sound in Edgy, and
I want to run Feisty, and hopefully gutsy. The fact that feisty has
been out this long and this bug hasn't been addressed is crazy to me.

The sound card is a conexant (id 14f1:5045), based on the High
Definition Audio (HDA) ship from intel and the driver that is recognized
is the snd_hda_intel. However, this driver (even in version v1.0.12rc2,
latest stable alsa version, with the kernel 2.6.15-27) cannot handle all
the features of the card.
