$ xeyes &

$ kill -KILL 3883
[1] + 3883 killed xeyes
[ 9:29AM ] [ bdmurray@impulse:/tmp/prodigy-remixes ]
$ ps aux | grep xeyes
bdmurray 3896 0.0 0.0 12120 2296 pts/28 S+ 09:29 0:00 grep
--color=auto xeyes
[ 9:29AM ] [ bdmurray@impulse:/tmp/prodigy-remixes ]
$ xeyes &
[1] 3901
[ 9:29AM ] [ bdmurray@impulse:/tmp/prodigy-remixes ]
$ sudo kill -KILL 3901
[sudo] password for bdmurray:
[1] + 3901 killed xeyes
