Just to expand on (and repeat some of) the above: (1) I haven't run into this problem (system freeze when running visiting certain sites, including Ubuntu.com, using Firefox) when running bare-metal on my Intel-based laptop or when running bare-metal on my AMD-based desktop; (2) The above is highly reproducible (almost ALWAYS happens) in Ubuntu 15.04 VMs run on my Intel-based laptop. (I haven't yet tested any Ubuntu 15.04 VMs on my AMD-based desktop.); (3) The above is highly reproducible (almost ALWAYS happens) in Ubuntu 15.04 VMs run on my Intel-based laptop, regardless of whether I boot the VM using systemd or upstart ; and (4) The above does NOT seem to occur in Ubuntu 14.04.2 VMs run on my Intel-based laptop.
