I imagined something like that. But if this is the situation, I think that much more care should be put in providing complete information to users.
When people moved from LTS to utopic there was no information about the fact that such path was going to force people to a reinstall to LTS after utopic because vivid was going to be a test bed for non mature technologies. Personally, I expected KDE4 and KDE5 to exist side by side (at least via PPAs) for a sufficient time to address regressions.
