An enhancement of the temporary workaround  in comment #109 above, using
a single Launcher icon on Launcher (without using a second icon in the
"running-apps" section)

1) Use the name "files.desktop" (instead of "nautilus.desktop" which is
already used)

2) Replace all instances of "nautilus.desktop" in the file
"~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache"

3) Use a script like the one below in a new desktop file in the folder
"~/.config/autostart/"

sleep 10
nautilus -q

This gave me a new, fully functioning Nautilus icon (even for the Trash
window) in the Launcher, except that it no longer displayed the usual
User Folders and bookmarks, which I had to manually insert into my new
"files.desktop" file.
