Thank you for pointing out that my BIOS was outdated. The device I have is the MSI ProBox23, which is based on a similar board to the H81T1 : http://www.msi.com/product/desktop/ProBox23.html
The H81T1 and ProBox23 have different BIOS versions (the BIOS upgrade refused the BIOS version for the H81T1). I upgraded the BIOS from here instead: http://www.msi.com/support/desktop/ProBox23.html#down-bios&Win7 64 I was running BIOS version A0J. I have just upgraded to BIOS version A0W (Version E7788IOB V10.0BW-W7) With the newly upgraded BIOS, the HDMI audio output are still not found with kernel 3.19.0-18 Here is the requested terminal output (after the BIOS upgrade): $sudo dmidecode -s bios-version V10.0BW-W7 $sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 03/31/2015 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1457697 Title: [Vivid] kernel 3.19.0-17 fails to find HDMI sound output To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1457697/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
