I found the problem. It had nothing to do with kernels. The udev rule 56-hpmud.rules was left over from 14.04 through the upgrade to 15.04. The action it induced when the printer is connected broke the printer identification.
Removing the rule fixed the problem. This udev rule was part of the hplip package, and did not cause the identification problem on 14.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455937 Title: HP 1018 not seen after upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1455937/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
