I have a ThinkPad X230T running 15.04 with Unity. I confirm that
thinkpad-rotate flip causes the screen to go black with just the cursor
visible and responsive to the window it's over (albeit with stylus input
inverted relative to the screen). ctrl+alt+F1 then ctrl+alt+F7 serve to
restore the windows (and stylus input is correct relative to the screen
after this).

I would be happy to run any tests if it would be useful to diagnosing
and fixing this bug.
