Relevant last lines in the log:

Aborting downgrade from (at least) 5.6 to 5.5.
If are sure you want to downgrade to 5.5, remove the file
/var/lib/mysql/debian-*.flag and try installing again.


Try removing MySQL 5.6 first before you install MariaDB, otherwise the install 
will abort on this downgrade warning. Any all official releases of Ubuntu that 
include MySQL 5.6 has MariaDB 10.0 so I don't see why you anyway try to install 
MariaDB 5.5 after 5.6 when you should have 10.0 available.
