Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 Install appears to have hung.

Install is unable to proceed beyond the user options screen. There is no
dialogue button for <next> or any other way for the user to tell the
install to continue.

This install was started from live desktop icon. The install then
appeared to proceed without a hitch. I went through install screens as
install was being processed.

I left the machine a while when it asked for install options for
username / password. The install continued in the background. User login
details were finally added. But the screen did not allow progress from
this point. The install process completed - and there was no more disk
activity. But that was all.

The screen has not hung: it is possible to edit the user details. But
the only dialogue options are <Back> and <Connect>.

The < Connect > button is greyed out and will not accept selection.
There is no way to progress from this point.

The install parameters were as follows:

forcepae, encrypted lvm, no network connection, over-write blank space

Machine:

IBM Thinkpad X40 Pentium-M

The machine booted into live environment after I added the forcepae
option for certain Pentium-M Thinkpads (as per instructions here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/117744/how-can-i-install-on-a-non-pae-
cpu-error-kernel-requires-features-not-present/117751#117751).

The following user details were entered/selected: your name, computer's
name, username, password, confirm password, require my password to
login.

The following details were not selected: encrypt my home folder, login
automatically.
