A couple of things that you might want to check on the affected system:
- can you edit /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ to include 'set -x' as the second
line, and capture the output of running 'sudo /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig -o
/boot/grub/grub.cfg'?
- can you test whether this problem exists when installing the current wily?
