I typed in gnome-calculator and it came up. Sorry, but there is no
deviation except of icon package. The icons I am using are FS-icons-
ubuntu icons. I did change the icon set to ubuntu-mono-light, and it did
return the calculator to a normal size, but I liked the icon theme, so I
researched the creator, and whomever might maintain it's packages, and
found a thread where someone else was having the same problem.

To correct this problem, execute the following command after installing
FS Icons:

$ sudo sed -i "s|MinSize=|MinSize=8\n#MinSize=|g" /usr/share/icons/fs-
icons-ubuntu*/index.theme
