It's segfaulting, but it's a Python program so it really can't segfault
due to any bug further up the stack than Python itself, and I'm pretty
confident in that. Your syslog indicates some problems reading from the
CD; I would suggest burning the CD at a lower speed and cleaning the CD
drive lens using an off-the-shelf cleaning kit. Also do a CD integrity
check before starting the installer next time round.

You can't choose reiser4 in the installer because it's not supported
(neither by the Ubuntu kernel nor by the installer's underlying
partitioning tools). Don't bother. I didn't rip it entirely out of
gparted because I figured somebody would complain if I did that ...
