I can also confirm this issue.  But I would say, it's not an issue of TexMaker 
(for all the terrans trying to kill that poor zealot).
Exploring a little further, on TexMaker I normally use latex+dvitops+ps2pdf. On 
this last command is the problem. ps2pdf calls gs (ghostscript) and this little 
one is doing all the rendering and compressing of the document, so it takes a 
looong time to finish.
I have tried to find an alternative to gs that is maybe more efficient, but I 
haven't been able to find it. I don't know if pdflatex also uses gs, but if it 
does, maybe that is the issue indeed.

Now, how can we avoid ghostscript? or am I peeing too faar from the tree?
