Outstanding call! Don't know when, how, why or where, but Matchbox was definitely installed. And yes, when I uninstalled all the associated packages, the on screen keyboard went away.
I had looked at the various on screen keyboard packages and had carefully checked the System Monitor and couldn't find any of them. This must be why. However yall want to handle it, my problem has been solved. I still don't understand why it buried itself at the top of the screen, such that you couldn't get to the 'X' to close it, in Gnome. In KDE you could get to it. Thank you, Bill Henrik Nilsen Omma wrote: > Are you sure this is gok and not the matchbox keyboard?
