Public bug reported:

Wine (1:1.6.2-0ubuntu6) works fine on my notebook's integrated display,
but stops drawing on an external monitor. A wine application still runs
and receives input, but its window is simply frozen. Moving the window
onto the border clearly shows how the left half redraws while the right
half doesn't.

This affects not just specific applications but EVERY wine
application/window, including even the ones that ship with wine like
winecfg, regedit or explorer.exe.

I suspect this might be related to nvidia's Optimus: The external
display is connected directly to the graphics card, while the the
notebook screen's image is passed through the Intel GPU. I'm using the
proprietary nvidia-331 (331.113-0ubuntu0.1) driver and nvidia-prime, no
bumblebee.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.10, but apparently the problem exists on 14.04 as
well: https://askubuntu.com/questions/601375/wine-not-working-on-
external-monitor
