- The writer of the patch, Thomas Reitmayr, answered the following:

I found the patch only in the linux-next tree, so that probably means
4.2, although it was forwarded to the linux-stable mailing list. Not
sure how the process looks like for getting it into an lts kernel.

message the problem was introduced in kernel version 3.17 and concerns a few 
device types handled by dvb_usb_dib0700.
