Public bug reported:

Using systemd from ppa:pittti/systemd, I'm experiencing quirky session
behavior such as not being able to reboot or shutdown due to gnome-
session wanting interactive authentication.

Here are the requested outputs:

$ loginctl
   SESSION        UID USER             SEAT
        c1        110 lightdm          seat0
         1       1000 townsend

2 sessions listed.

$ loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID
