Public bug reported:
Standard usage of Ubuntu, sporadically end up with an unresponsive user
interface. Examination of syslog spews out some error about i915 intel
display driver.
I've noticed there are a couple of similar bugs around, most notably:
bug #1384342 and bug #64431, and possibly bug #1453029
