Is this a reboot after the initial boot into the installed system, or a
reboot immediately after the successful completion of the installer?

Is this system installed with multipathed disks? I would venture a "yes"
given that it uses SAN LUNs, but just to be sure...

Also, is trusty-proposed enabled for this install? I know the lack of a
copied bindings file in trusty-release might cause data corruption after
install, since multipath disks may not come up in the same order in this
case.

As suggested by Steve Langasek, full reproducing steps would be very
useful to debug this.
