I ran into the exact same experience this morning when I received the kernel update to 2.6.22-12-generic. I also have an HDA Intel sound card (my card is presented as "Realtek High Definition Audio" in Windows Vista) but ALSA mixer usually says card="hda intel" and chipset="realtek ALC268".
To fix my sound I used this command "sudo apt-get --reinstall install libasound2 libasound2-dev" and then rebooting. I suspect, it would be possible to make some kind of relatively simple change to the standard Gutsy configuration to prevent this from happening. Such a change might also fix the fact that sound is broken by default on HDA Intel / Realtek cards. -- Kernel Upgrades kill sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/141655 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
