Public bug reported:

I had installed nvidia-331, and I was affected by this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-331/+bug/1268257

As far I can understand, it was fixed here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-340-updates/+bug/1431753

Today I got upgrade to nvdia-340, and I lost video hardware
acceleration. I can't play HD videos, and HTML5 videos smoothly (youtube
and others). I get _very_ choppy video: 1 frame a sec approx.

This is happening in all my media players: Totem, VLC, and mpv.

Regards.
