Public bug reported:
Essentially every time that I use the emulator, the Dash crashes, or has
never started at all. This makes the emulator approximately unusable,
and there seems to be no way to start the Dash from the UI (and whatever
process should restart the Dash after a crash doesn't seem to be
working). I had to ssh into the emulator and "restart unity8-dash" to
make it work, every time. (I eventually deleted the emulator out of
frustration.)
