The vboxnet is down for me too on suspend, and also when undocking my
laptop, which triggers unplugging the ethernet wire. After undocking, my
ethernet networks is down, along with the vboxnet* interfaces:
$ ip l
4: vboxnet0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN mode
DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
