I have this 14.04.3 server on a ppc64le. Then after installing ubuntu-
desktop package, I have:

$ apt list --installed | grep xserver

x11-xserver-utils/trusty,now 7.7+2ubuntu1 ppc64el [installed,automatic]
xserver-common/trusty-updates,trusty-security,now 2:1.15.1-0ubuntu2.7 all
[installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg/trusty-updates,now 1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1 ppc64el [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-core/trusty-updates,trusty-security,now 2:1.15.1-0ubuntu2.7
ppc64el [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-all/trusty-updates,now 1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1 ppc64el
[installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-evdev/trusty,now 1:2.8.2-1ubuntu2 ppc64el
[installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-void/trusty,now 1:1.4.0-1build3 ppc64el [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-video-all/trusty-updates,now 1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1 ppc64el
[installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-video-dummy/trusty,now 1:0.3.7-1build1 ppc64el
[installed,automatic]

I try to run lightdm with /etc/init.d/lightdm start but X refuses to
start (logs attached).

Then, I install xorg-xserver-modesetting by hand and X can be started.

Maybe I am missing some other step or I put my system in an awkward
state?
