Public bug reported: I have a Dell Inspiron 510m. I have this partitioned into a Dell recovery partition, a WindowsXP partition, a /, /swap and /home partition for Feisty (my stable install) and a testing / and /swap for Gutsy Tribe 5.
I installed Tribe 5 when it was first released, using the alternate installer (the Desktop doesn't work on this machine Bug #60897 ). I did one set of updates about a week ago. I don't use WindowsXP much but I tried booting into it today and received the following error: " Winnt_root\System32\Hal.dll missing or corrupt: Please re-install a copy of the above file. " I assume that the installer did something to the Windows Boot loader. I normally check that everything boots after each install, but I can't think how it could have happened since install. I can't isolate when the bug occurred, but thought I should file it in case somebody else has it happen. Let me know if you need anything from me before I fix the Windows install.
