What I mean by that is that I don't know when it happened. I normally check that the install hasn't prevented anything happening to my other partitions. I am therefore fairly certain that I would have booted into Windows after the install and checked it was okay. That suggests that the boot.ini was corrupted after the install. I can't think of any ways that the boot.ini could have been corrupted after that initial install, however, so it seems possible that I didn't check it this time.
