I've also been seeing this bug in kubuntu for about the last 6 months. The wifi 
actually works when I come directly out of sleep mode but if the computer 
screen is allowed to lock then afterwards the wifi is broken and journalctl 
shows errors of the kind
"wlan0: Failed check-sdata-in-driver check, flags: 0x4". I've tried to restart 
services and modprobe the iwl3945 module but this often crashes the computer. 
Instead I've found that sending the computer into 'sleep' mode and waking it up 
will restore the wifi -at least for a while.
