iconnor PPA is a lot more up to date, but he has been working on packaging process so that may have caused your issue. He was working to line up closer to official debian package. Might have better luck in the zoneminder.com forum or #zoneminder irc. I will see if I can confirm this error but maybe a version somewhere is out of sync as a fresh install would have used create db script and not need to run that 1.26.5 sql update.
